Spark of Hope #76 – Over the past three years I’ve had several offers to let someone else manage parts of my “story.” Being self-published means having to wear or hire industry hats: write, edit, illustrate, distribute, market, publicize, etc. etc. I received another offer this week from a well-respected group. It came with glowing remarks and suggested revisions, both of which I greatly appreciate. While the offer didn’t convince me to partner, it did make me realize I’ve been wearing quite a unique hat. While our books have whimsical characters to help children understand life’s tough stuff, they aren’t just for them. Thanks to an e-conversation with my co-author of When Your Grandma Forgets, the direction is clear. I need to claim a brand new label to describe this work of love. Together my artist and I have created a genre: family picture books. So for now, I’ll simply add a hat of gratitude — for the thousands of big kids who sit beside little kids, reading our Little Pink Books and Little Patriot Books together. Sharing in that makes Huge Outcomes Possible Everyday — remember, HOPE is contagious!
Big & Little Hands Going through the Tough Stuff — Side by Side!
Hope is like a spark; if the conditions are right, it can spread like wildfire. Hope feeds the soul, ignites passion, and inspires others. A world without it is like a world without possibility. Tucked inside each of us is a child-like spark that says: never forget to dream, play and imagine. HOPE is the extraordinary spark that says Huge Outcomes are Possible Everyday!
I am thankful to God always when His clear direction is provided. I learned today about a friend who has a father in his 60s who has the early stages of Azheimer’s/. I recommended your books to her because she has children who may not understand why their grandfather may behaving in some peculiar ways. Your family picture books have a great future in ministering to many more families who will be facing, unfortunately, this dreaded disease. Blessings to you, my friend.
Someday I pray the pages of these family books can go blank when such painful journeys like Alzheimer’s become treatable and ultimately curable. Never give up Hope for such miracles from God!
