Spark of Hope #117 – My sister Ruthie simply couldn’t wait on surprises. As a child, she would sneak into Mom’s “hiding place,” unwrap gifts labeled with her name, wrap them back up, and then act surprised on Christmas day! “Shh …don’t tell,” she’d say, as she grinned about what she had found. I’ve been feeling like my sister lately, about an opportunity I created to give back. The idea has been dancing around in my little head ever since I met Braydon with his parents in 2011. At age 4, he brought me a tattered copy of When Your Mom Has Cancer to sign. Through the stick-characters this was his mother’s story. He carried that little pink book to Martina McBride’s video shoot of “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” and beyond. This month marks two years since cancer stole away Taira Baughman. She was a big giver and she absolutely loved surprises! Her openness left an indelible mark of hope within her family, in my life, with Team Martina teammates, and upon thousands of others around the globe. What better way to honor Taira’s legacy than to encourage openness through reading, just as she had done with Braydon. We’ve joined hands with the Little Pink Houses of Hope foundation to bless breast cancer patients and their families with 100 copies of the book, and you can help too! SSh! It’s almost ready to share! The campaign will launch very soon. Huge Outcomes are Possible Everyday even after loss … with HOPE and gifts that keep on giving!
Hope is like a spark; if the conditions are right, it can spread like wildfire. Hope feeds the soul, ignites passion, and inspires others. Tucked inside each of us is a child-like spark that says: never forget to dream, play and imagine. HOPE is the extraordinary spark that says Huge Outcomes are Possible Everyday!
