Spark of Hope #121 – Time Out Is Not Just for Kids

Spark of Hope #121 – I wonder how many moms can identify with hiding in the bathroom. When my children were young, I would go there sometimes and lock the door, just to pause.  Inevitably, they would knock.  I would remind them, “Mommy needs a time out.”  It was my way of hitting the pause button when I needed mere moments to regain strength, patience, and clarity.  Decades later, I still give myself time out.  Thankfully, I have graduated to more appealing spaces for greater lengths of time. It is not about having time.  It is about making time.  My siblings are flying in to take charge of our parents’ care.  Volunteers have stepped up to facilitate next week’s memory cafes.  I have given myself permission to pause.  Curious about what my time out looks like? Follow the pictures on Instagram! I hope it inspires you to take time out too. After all, time out is not just for kids!

“There is virtue in work and there is virtue in rest. Use both and overlook neither.” ~ Alan Cohen

Hope is like a spark; if the conditions are right, it can spread like wildfire. Hope feeds the soul, ignites passion, and inspires others. Tucked inside each of us is a child-like spark that says: never forget to dream, play and imagine. HOPE is the extraordinary spark that says Huge Outcomes are Possible Everyday!

    1. Dear Bill: I strive to get myself back to norm as quickly as possible when life throws curves. As you know, times of refocusing and indulging in good things become fuel for the marathon ahead. Stay well my friend.
