Spark of Hope #80 – Getting the Pink Slip on Tax Day

Spark of Hope #80 – Tax Day — April 15th — A deadline many Americans dread, with the exception of those anticipating a refund from the IRS. For Taira Baughman, tax day came with a “pink slip,” as she went from full-time owner of a flourishing media company to over-taxed, unemployed mother fighting triple negative breast cancer. When cancer enters a home, it often creates physical, emotional and financial havoc. Yet, through faith and determination, Taira and her husband have rested on a rock of hope with their four children. Supporters from all over the world have signed on to love them through it. Our paths crossed thanks to a Martina McBride song of unfailing love and support, honoring countless survivors who have fought the fight. Ever since that day in October 2011, I have followed Taira’s pink slip journey, encouraging, praying, and walking beside her, even though we’re hundreds of miles apart. It’s collection day, and depending on what side you’re on, that’s a burden or a blessing. I’m hoping that this “tax day” anniversary will be filled with collective hope for my friend and her family. Join me, by grabbing a pink slip and walking beside someone fighting the fight! Through HOPE — you make Huge Outcomes Possible Everyday, even when cancer steps through the door.

Hope is like a spark; if the conditions are right, it can spread like wildfire. Hope feeds the soul, ignites passion, and inspires others. Tucked inside each of us is a child-like spark that says: never forget to dream, play and imagine. HOPE is the extraordinary spark that says Huge Outcomes are Possible Everyday!
