Spark of Hope #103 – Down a Notch or Twenty

SOH103photosSpark of Hope #103 – Life has a way of knocking us down a notch or two … or twenty. When I scheduled my surgery for a torn bicep tendon, my mom was in her 4th week of healing from a broken hip. Her progress was slow-going, amid brokenness and vast  challenges of Alzheimer’s. Two days after my shoulder surgery, the phone rang at 2:37 a.m. Mom had fallen, again. She needed emergency surgery, again. Tragically, she’d broken her pelvic joint and her other hip. Her rehabilitation clock was totally reset. She’d been MomWalkingknocked down twenty notches or more! As we  both work toward healing I’m continually inspired watching Mom just keep on keepin’ on. There’s no doubt, life has a way of knocking us down from time to time. There’s also no doubt that through generous helpers, prayer warriors, and unending hope, Huge Outcomes are still Possible Everyday — we might even rise a notch … or twenty!

Hope is like a spark; if the conditions are right, it can spread like wildfire. Hope feeds the soul, ignites passion, and inspires others. Tucked inside each of us is a child-like spark that says: never forget to dream, play and imagine. HOPE is the extraordinary spark that says Huge Outcomes are Possible Everyday!

  1. Maryann,

Thanks always for your positive perspective. Hope is like a fuel which gives us energy to move forward and to press on in faith. Praying for your continued recovery and for your family.

    C. S. Lewis makes this quote that reinforces us all to not give up in days when distress and trouble are at our doorsteps,

“I must keep alive in myself the desire for my true country, which I shall not find till after death; I must never let it get snowed under or turned aside; I must make it the main object of life to press on to the other country and to help others do the same.”

I pray you have a blessed day my friend of hope. It does matter. It is essential. You are right! 🙂

    Bill
